Before you begin the upgrade to Windows 11, we recommend following these steps to ensure a smooth transition and protect your data.

Pre-Installation Steps

  1. Check Compatibility: Use the official Microsoft PC Health Check app to verify that your hardware meets the minimum system requirements (such as TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot).

  2. Back Up Your Data: Save your important files to an external drive or a cloud service like OneDrive to prevent any data loss during the installation.

  3. Install Updates: Ensure your current Windows 10 version and all hardware drivers are fully updated via Settings > Update & Security.

  4. Verify Software Compatibility: Confirm that your most essential applications and antivirus software are compatible with Windows 11.

  5. Free Up Storage: Windows 11 requires a minimum of 64 GB of storage. However, for a smooth upgrade process, we recommend having at least 20 GB to 30 GB of additional free space available for temporary installation files.

  6. Create a System Restore Point: Setting a restore point allows you to quickly revert to your previous settings if any issues occur during the upgrade.
